Vijay’s TVK, positioning itself as a ‘non-Dravidian alternative’, has disrupted the long-standing dominance of DMK and AIADMK. The party’s ideology—focused on social justice, an egalitarian society, and a dual-language policy (Tamil and English)—has resonated with voters seeking a new political direction in Tamil Nadu.

The majority mark in the 234-member Assembly is 118 seats, and TVK’s strong performance has brought it close to forming the government. In contrast, the 2021 Assembly elections saw the DMK win 133 seats, comfortably forming the government, while AIADMK secured 66 seats.
