Toronto Maple Leafs reveal 2025 prospect showdown roster in Montréal

The Maple Leafs are preparing an artful weekend of hockey as 26 players have been confirmed for the 2025 Prospect Showdown. The infamous Prospect Showdown will take place at the Bell Centre in Montréal, Québec, where the organization’s future stars will be presented to the public.

On Saturday, September 13th, the Toronto bunch will go up against the Ottawa Senators, and then on Sunday, September 14th, they will play against the Montréal Canadiens in a match sure to be most enjoyable and entertaining.

The roster this year is a mix of recently drafted players, signed players, and free agents trying to make a name for themselves. Among the more prominent names are the four 2025 NHL Draft picks: Rylan Fellinger, Matthew Hlacar, Tyler Hopkins, and Harry Nansi.

They are joined by four selections from 2024 (Ben Danford, Miroslav Holinka, Nathan Mayes, Sam McCue), along with 2023 picks, Noah Chadwick and Easton Cowan.

Vyacheslav Peksa, a 2021 pick, will obviously be manning the pipes for the Leafs. And then two more 2020 draftees in Artur Akhtyamov and Ryan Tverberg, will also be hiding under the umbrella of the CDA. Other than the drafted players are six players with NHL contracts who buttress the roster, like Haymes and Kressler.

Five others are signed on the AHL level. The free agents Owen Conrad and Alex Pharand were added to that roster, hoping to earn some more looks during the showcase.

Coaching and preparations for the 2025 prospect showdown

Led by the home coaching staff, the Maple Leaf prospects come to life under the Toronto Marlies' head coach, John Gruden. Prior to going to Montréal, the youngsters will hit the ice at the Ford Performance Centre from September 11 to September 12 for a couple of days of training.
