The Thiruvananthapuram City Police have detained one person for entering the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple wearing camera-embedded smart glasses.
The accused, Surendra Shah, 66, of Gujarat, was taken into custody by the Fort police on Sunday evening. He had visited the temple with his family earlier in the day. The temple, known for its strict security measures, does not permit any form of videography or photography within its premises.
The smart glasses worn by Surendra reportedly went unnoticed during security checks at the temple’s entrance gates. It was only later that security personnel noticed a light blinking from the glasses as he approached the sanctum sanctorum.
According to the police, the accused had captured some visuals inside the temple using the smart glasses. Surendra, who claimed to be unaware of the prohibition against its use within the temple premises, said he frequently used them during travels and insisted there was no malicious intent behind wearing the device.
The Fort police, which have registered a case, let the accused off on station bail after questioning him.
