A traffic constable who was trying to enforce no entry for goods vehicles during morning peak hours in the city was injured after being hit by a vehicle on Friday morning.
The goods vehicles are not allowed on the International Airport Road from 7.30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Traffic constable Vikas was deployed near Hunasamaranahalli, International Airport Road. He saw a goods vehicle coming on the road, which he tried to flag down. However, the driver, in a bid to escape, did not stop the vehicle and the constable got hit.
As he fled from the scene, passers-by rushed Vikas to hospital. He suffered minor injuries and was said to be out of danger. The police analysed the CCTV footage, tracked down the vehicle and arrested the driver, Barqat Khan.
