Traffic Curbs In Old City From June 24-26 For Muharram

Times News NetworkBhopal: Traffic restrictions and diversions will be in place in the old city areas from June 24 to June 26 in view of Muharram processions, city traffic police said on Tuesday.

Commuters have been advised to use alternative routes to avoid congestion.Tazias from various parts of the city will assemble between Imami Gate and Peer Gate around noon and the main procession will pass through Bhawani Chowk, Royal Market, Hamidia Hospital, Koh-e-Fiza Square and GAD before culminating at Karbala on VIP Road. Some processions will proceed towards Ginnori area.Traffic police said heavy vehicular movement is expected after 6 pm on roads passing through Bharat Talkies, Alpana Tiraha, Nadra Bus Stand, Bhopal Talkies, Shahjehanabad, Royal Market, Koh-e-Fiza Square and Karbala on VIP Road.

Additional police force has been deployed at these locations to regulate traffic.All heavy vehicles, goods carriers, commercial vehicles and even those with special permits will be prohibited from entering the stretch between Bharat Talkies and Karbala during the period. Heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter the city from 6 pm to 6 am between June 24 and June 26.Alternative routes to airport:Passengers heading towards Raja Bhoj Airport from the city can take the route via Bharat Mata Square, Bhadbhada Square, Sakshi Dhaba Trisection, Neelbad Trisection, Nathu Barkheda Road, Mugalia Chhap, Khajuri Road, Khajuri Bypass and Mubarakpur Square.

Those travelling from eastern and northern parts of the city can use Prabhat Square, JK Road, Ratnagiri, Ayodhya Bypass, Bhanpur, Karond Square, New Jail and Gandhi Nagar Trisection to reach the airport.Route to Bhopal main railway station:Commuters travelling from new Bhopal towards Bhopal main railway station have been advised to use the route via Prabhat Square, Parihar Square, 80 Feet Road and Bajaria Trisection.Traffic police appealed to citizens to cooperate and follow traffic regulations. Assistance can be sought on helpline numbers 0755-2677340 and 2443850, while complaints and information can also be shared on WhatsApp number 7587602055.
