The Hyderabad Traffic Police have announced traffic restrictions and diversions in parts of the old city in connection with the elephant trial walk from Bibi-ka-Alawa on Saturday, June 20.
According to the advisory, the restrictions will be in force from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will affect several key roads in and around Charminar, Yakutpura, Purani Haveli, Nayapul, Chaderghat and adjoining areas.
Police said vehicular traffic will not be allowed towards Bibi-ka-Alawa and will be diverted at Sunargalli T Junction towards Dabeerpura Darwaza and Ganga Nagar Nala. Traffic heading towards Shaik Faiz Kaman will be diverted at Jabbar Hotel towards Dabeerpura Darwaza or Chanchalguda depending on the situation.
Vehicles coming from Etebar Chowk will not be permitted towards Bada Bazaar and will be diverted towards Kotla Alija or Purani Haveli. Similar diversions will be implemented at different stages of the procession as it moves through Ganga Nagar Nala, Etebar Chowk, Kotla Alija, Charminar, Miralam Mandi and Alawa Sartauq.
Traffic from Nayapul towards Charminar will be diverted at Madina X Road towards City College when the procession reaches the Charminar area. Vehicles coming from Chaderghat Rotary, Salar Jung Museum, Noorkhan Bazaar and Shivaji Bridge will also face restrictions and diversions during various stages of the event.
The police said APSRTC and TGSRTC district buses will be diverted through Rang Mahal and Afzalgunj for entry and exit between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. on June 20. Buses will be allowed on Kalikabar and Miralam Mandi roads only until the procession reaches its destination.
Citizens have been advised to avoid the affected routes, use alternative roads and follow updates issued by the Hyderabad Traffic Police. In case of emergencies, commuters may contact the traffic helpline at 9010203626.
