Tragic family dispute: Father arrested for killing son during violent altercation; Police reveal history of domestic issues

Dumka: A man was arrested for killing his 10-year-old son in a fit of rage in a village in Ramgarh block of the district late on Wednesday. The accused Sanjay Kamti, a resident of Sadhudih village, was forwarded to judicial custody.

The murder weapon was also recovered, the police said.Sanjay, police said, had a heated argument with his wife Pooja Devi on Wednesday evening. As the argument escalated, Sanjay tried to attack his wife with a sharp weapon. The couple’s 10-year-old boy Kushal Kumar tried to pacify his father. “Enraged, Sanjay attacked Kushal, leading to his death on the spot,” Manish Kumar, the officer-in-charge of Ramgarh police station, said. Notably, Pooja had filed a police complaint against Sanjay on March 17.

The police mediated between the couple on Wednesday itself, but the couple ended up arguing again.
