Truck breaks wall, left dangling off flyover on Ghodbunder h’way

Thane: A Dahanu-bound goods truck crashed through a retaining wall of Kasarwadavli flyover on the busy Ghodbunder highway in Thane, halted right before it could plunge nearly 30ft, and dangled precariously early on Friday.

No one was injured. Yasin Tadvi, Thane regional disaster management cell in-charge, said the adjoining area was barricaded for construction of the Thane-bound flyover. “The truck had set off with nearly 12 tonne jaggery from Pune. The driver lost control while in the Fountain Hotel-bound lane and may have possibly tried to swerve the truck to regain it but eventually crashed into the wall.” Traffic was disrupted for over an hour. Emergency teams and traffic police personnel deployed an earthmover and cranes to safely pull the truck back onto the flyover.
