US President Donald Trump on Monday claimed that meeting between Washington and Tehran would take place in Doha on Tuesday, hours after an Iranian official said there were “no plans" for direct talks with Washington this week.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “IRAN HAS REQUESTED A MEETING. IT WILL TAKE PLACE TOMORROW IN DOHA!"
The claim came amid conflicting signals from Tehran over the status of technical-level discussions with the US.
Earlier, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said there are currently no plans for meetings with US technical teams in Qatar this week.
