US President Donald Trump on Sunday said the man accused of attempting to storm the gala dinner he attended had written what he described as an anti-Christian manifesto.
“The guy is a sick guy," Trump told Fox News. “When you read his manifesto, he hates Christians."
He also claimed that concerns about the suspect had been raised earlier. “His sister or his brother actually was complaining about it. You know, they were even complaining to law enforcement. He was a very troubled guy."
Earlier in the day, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said that US President Donald Trump and members of his administration were likely the intended targets of the gunman who opened fire during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in Washington.

After the incident, Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were immediately escorted out of the venue as a precaution.
The shooting happened during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, a major event attended by journalists, officials and public figures. The incident led to a quick security response and a federal investigation.
According to Reuters, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were quickly taken out of the venue after a gunman opened fire at security personnel.
The attacker fired at a Secret Service agent, who survived because he was wearing a bulletproof vest. Trump later said the officer was in “good shape."
All federal officials at the event were safe, and the suspect was arrested shortly after the shooting.
