BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran, on Tuesday (July 7, 2026), expressed shock over an incident reported in Salem district in which a TVK functionary allegedly threatened with a knife forcing to employ those he recommended to the VB-G RAM G rural employment programme. He urged TVK founder and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to control his partymen.

Condemning the incident, Mr. Nagenthran said that such an incident only raised doubts over the TVK-led government. While irregularities were allegedly reported under the erstwhile DMK regime, the BJP leader said there are now doubts if eligible beneficiaries would benefit from the VB-G RAM G rural employment programme under the TVK government.

Mr. Nagenthran further urged Mr. Vijay to control his partymen from interfering in the functioning of the State-run schools, goverment hospitals and employment programmes. He further urged the Chief Minister to ensure that various welfare programmes aided by the Union government reached the people without any discrimination.
