Twisha Sharma, a 33-year-old woman from Noida, was found hanging at her marital home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills on May 12, months after marrying Samarth Singh.

Twisha Sharma Death Case: Samarth Singh, Twisha’s husband and the main accused in the FIR, remains absconding.
Twisha Sharma Death Case: The Mohan Yadav-led Madhya Pradesh government has started the process of taking action against Giribala Singh, a retired district sessions judge, in connection with the death case of her daughter-in-law, Twisha Sharma.
The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department has written to the Madhya Pradesh State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission seeking details on the procedure to remove a chairperson when a criminal case is registered against the individual.
The commission has also been directed to conduct an inquiry and submit a report at the earliest. Additionally, the state government has initiated correspondence regarding the appointment and resignation process related to the District Consumer Forum chairperson post. Giribala Singh, who is currently serving in the Consumer Forum, is out on anticipatory bail in the case.
The development came amid allegations from Twisha Sharma’s family that the investigation is being influenced to protect the accused. Twisha’s father, Navnidhi Sharma, alleged that the state machinery was working in favour of the accused and demanded strict action.
Twisha was found hanging at her husband Samarth Singh’s house in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12, just months after their marriage in December 2025. Her family has accused her husband and in-laws of dowry harassment and murder. Police registered an FIR under Sections 80(2), 85, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita along with relevant sections of the Dowry Prohibition Act, naming Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh.
Earlier, Mohan Yadav met Twisha Sharma’s family in Bhopal and assured them of full government support. He informed the family that the state government would write to seek a CBI investigation into the case. He also said the government would help transport Twisha’s mortal remains to AIIMS Delhi if the family wished.
Accused Husband Files For Bail
Meanwhile, Samarth Singh, who is currently absconding, has filed a bail application in the Jabalpur High Court, even as the victim’s family moves to seek cancellation of anticipatory bail granted to his mother.
A magistrate court had earlier rejected his anticipatory bail application while granting it to his mother, Giribala Singh, a retired district sessions judge.
Police have also announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for information leading to his arrest. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rajneesh Kashyap Kaul said authorities have taken steps to prevent the accused from fleeing the country, including sending correspondence to the passport office.
A lookout circular has also been issued against Singh.
