Two Andhra Pradesh policemen were killed, while another sustained injuries after their car rammed into a parked lorry at Durgapur X Roads in Kodad , Telangana early on Thursday (June 26, 2025).
The deceased were identified as Sub-Inspector Ashok, who was posted as the Station House Officer of Alamuru police station, and constable Blessin, who were seated on the left side of the vehicle. Head Constable Subramanyam Swamy and private driver Ramesh escaped with injuries and are currently undergoing treatment.
The incident was reported at 4.45 a.m. when the officers were en route to Hyderabad from Vijaywada for an investigation in an Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act case.
Kodad Town Inspector Shiv Shankar said that the lorry, loaded with scrap and travelling from Machlipatnam to Shadnagar, was parked on the roadside while its driver was inspecting the tyres.
The lorry driver, identified as V. Bhadra Rao of Machilipatnam, has been taken into custody and the vehicle seized by the police.
The bodies have been shifted for postmortem evaluation. Further investigation is underway.
