Two individuals were arrested during a joint operation by the Jubilee Hills police and Hyderabad City Task Force in connection with a premeditated house robbery involving gold and diamond jewellery worth about ₹1.3 crore. The accused were identified as Bhupender Shahi alias Bhuvan, 22, and Krishna Chand, 23.

The arrests relate to a theft reported on February 5 at a residence in Nandagiri Hills, Jubilee Hills, where a Nepali gang carried out a planned robbery in the absence of the homeowners and their family members. According to the police, the operation was masterminded by Jiban Chand, who is currently absconding.

As part of the plan, a maid employed at the house facilitated the entry of two associates and administered intoxicating substances to the watchmen and the cook, rendering them unconscious. The accused then decamped with gold and diamond jewellery from the house.

Following the incident, the police launched an intensive investigation and tracked the accused to the Indo-Nepal border.

The arrested accused were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody. Police said efforts are under way to apprehend the absconding mastermind and other associates involved in the case and to recover the remaining stolen property.
