Two Bangladeshi nationals were detained at the new terminal of Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport after security personnel allegedly found forged Indian identity documents in their possession, officials said.
The suspects, identified as Rana Molla and Mafuja Akhtar Lima, were intercepted by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) moments before they were due to board an Akasa Air flight to Mumbai.
During the security check, CISF personnel allegedly recovered forged Aadhaar cards along with several other documents from the duo. They were subsequently handed over to the Azara Police, who later transferred the case to Panbazar Police Station for further legal action.
The latest detention comes even as police in Kerala arrested three Bangladeshi nationals for allegedly entering India illegally and living in a labour camp while posing as interstate migrant workers.
The accused, identified as Muhammed Vula Hussain (47), Muhammed Hassan Ali (27), and Muhammad Mahdi Hasan (28), were apprehended during a surprise inspection carried out by Mavoor Police at Kalpally in Kozhikode district on Tuesday.

Police said the inspection was launched after receiving intelligence that Bangladeshi nationals were staying among migrant workers in the area.
According to the FIR, the three men had entered India without valid passports, visas or any other travel documents. Investigators alleged that they crossed the border through unauthorised routes, concealed their Bangladeshi identity and falsely presented themselves as migrant workers from another Indian state.
Meanwhile, a 24-year-old Bangladeshi woman was detained at Guwahati airport earlier this month after authorities allegedly discovered she was travelling with a forged Aadhaar card.
Investigators said she had entered India illegally and had been living in the country using fake identity documents before she was intercepted. She was later handed over to the police for further investigation.
The back-to-back cases have heightened concerns among security agencies over the alleged use of forged Indian identity documents by illegal immigrants and the possibility of Guwahati airport being used as a transit point.
Authorities are now investigating whether the recent arrests are connected to a larger network involved in cross-border illegal immigration and the fabrication of Indian identity documents.
