The Keladi Shivappa Nayaka University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences (KSNUAHS) has organised a two-day national seminar titled Pepper – An Intercrop in Arecanut for Prosperity in Shivamogga, beginning on January 28.
Nagarajappa Adivappar, organising secretary and principal investigator of the Arecanut Research Centre of the University, said the seminar has been organised to promote pepper cultivation. Experts from various organisations will take part in the discussion on pepper production technologies and integrated pest and disease management, and exchange information on technological advances. “The seminar will provide an effective forum for discussion and exchange of ideas among policymakers, scientists and stakeholders to address the challenges,” he said.
The seminar will be inaugurated at 10 a.m. on January 28. Vice Chancellor of KSNUAHS, R.C. Jagadeesha, Vice Chancellor of University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot, Dr. Vishnuvardhana, Karnataka State Agricultural Produce Processing and Export Corporation Limited (KAPPEC) MD, C.N. Shivaprakash, Directorate of Arecanut and Spices Department director, Homey Cherian and others will attend the inaugural ceremony.
