The Second Additional District and Sessions Court in Hindupur on Friday (July 3, 2026) sentenced two individuals to life imprisonment for a 2018 murder case in Sri Sathya Sai district.
The court held both accused, Phirangi Sridhar and Palepalli Lakshmi, guilty under Sections 302 read with 34 of the Indian Penal Code for murdering Anjaneyulu within the Chilamathur police station limits. It awarded them rigorous life imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹15,000 on each.
The court also found them guilty under Section 201 IPC for destroying evidence and sentenced them to five years of rigorous imprisonment, in addition to imposing an additional fine of ₹15,000 each.
The Chilamattur police stated that the conviction followed a thorough investigation in which investigators presented strong evidence to the court. Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar praised the investigating officers, prosecutors, and police personnel for securing the conviction.
