Alwar: Police Friday arrested two 20-year-olds and detained two minors for allegedly killing an elderly man during a burglary at his home in Khadana Mohalla, cracking the case within 12 hours.Karan, a resident of Darukuta Mohalla, and Teju alias Tejpal, a resident of Malviya Nagar, were arrested by a joint team of Kotwali police, the district special team and the cyber cell. Police said one accused is absconding and a search is under way.The victim, Dineshchand Agrawal, lived alone in his ancestral house in Khadana Mohalla. Police said the accused entered the house Thursday night to steal cash and coins. When Agrawal resisted, they allegedly tied his hands, legs and mouth with cloth and strangled him, causing death by suffocation.Alwar SP Sudhir Chaudhary said a murder case was registered in Kotwali police station area Thursday night, and special teams were formed. The crime scene was examined with help from the forensic science laboratory, MOB, technical team and a dog squad. Police also scanned CCTV footage from the area before making the arrests.Agrawal’s son, Vikas Kumar Agrawal, told police his father came to his house every day for meals but did not arrive Thursday night.
When Agrawal could not be reached on his mobile phone, Vikas went to the old house and found it locked from inside. He opened it with another key and found his father tied up and unresponsive.Police said cash and coins kept in the house were missing. Agrawal used to exchange torn and old currency notes. His son and daughter-in-law live in another house.During interrogation, police said, the accused claimed they committed the theft to pay house instalments and clear debt.
