Mandya: Mandya district police have cracked a house robbery reported earlier this month, arresting two accused and recovering gold ornaments worth over Rs 4.3 lakh. The case was registered on June 9, on the complaint of Nagaraju of Alakere village in Keragodu hobli, Mandya taluk.He told police he had left home early after milking his cows and visiting the dairy, latching the front door from outside while his son Kiran was asleep inside.Police said an intruder entered the house around 5am by opening the latch, locked Kiran’s room from outside, and entered the bedroom where Nagaraju’s wife Leelamma was asleep. He attempted to snatch her mangalsutra.When she resisted, the accused allegedly struck her with an iron rod, causing a head injury, and fled with a 40-gram gold chain.Following the complaint, Keragodu police launched a probe. A team led by circle inspector M Manjunath tracked down and arrested Mahadevappa, 58, a cook from Alakere, and S Mahesh, 39, a daily wage labourer from Marigowda Layout in Mandya city, Mandya SP VJ Shobharani said.Police recovered 33.4 grams of gold ornaments valued at Rs 4,34,200, she added.
