Two held for sharing, uploading child porn videos

Varanasi: Cyber Police Station of Sonbhadra district on Thursday arrested two persons for sharing and uploading child pornography videos on social media. Information about child pornography/videos uploaded on social media was received through the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) portal operated by ministry of home affairs and Cyber Tripline system, which flags child pornography and information related to child sexual abuse to law enforcement agencies via the NCRP portal.

Two complaints were found related to Sonbhadra district.During investigation, Cyber Cell obtained details of mobile phones, IP address and profiles of the users and two persons were identified as guilty of uploading child pornography on social media platforms. A team led by Cyber Police Station inspector in charge Dhirendra Kumar Chaudhary arrested the accused after device verification. Duddhi and Obra police stations were directed to take action and Saif, who was uploading the content through Instagram, was arrested from Duddhi town, while Rahul Kumar was arrested from Obra police station area.During interrogation, the accused said they formed a social media group of friends, through which videos were sent to each other via Instagram/Facebook and other platforms. The obscene videos were uploaded and shared on social media platforms with the purpose of gaining more views and earning financial benefit.On verification of the information, the devices and mobile numbers used for uploading were recovered and on the basis of arrest and recovery, cases were registered and legal proceedings initiated at Duddhi and Obra police stations under Sections 77, 294 BNS and 67B IT Act.

Sonbhadra SP Abhishek Verma appealed to general public not to upload, share, or forward obscene, objectionable, or child sexual abuse-related content on social media as it falls under category of serious cyber crime and strict legal action will be taken against those found guilty.
