The Prakasam district police have arrested a habitual offender and his aide for their alleged involvement in a theft at a hardware shop in Chimakurthy town recently. The police recovered 273 grams of gold ornaments, 1.845 kg of silver and ₹5.95 lakh in cash from the accused.
According to the complainant Addepalli Nagesh Babu, his outlet was robbed in the night on May 11, which he realised when he opened the shop the next day. Miscreants allegedly gained entry into the shop by lifting the iron latch fixed to the wooden door and decamped with gold, silver and cash from two cupboards.
The Clues Team collected evidence from the scene of the crime and examined the CCTV footage gathered from the locality. The evidences led the police to Mirapalli Prasad, a habitual offender from Nellore district.
Prasad was arrested at Nandanamarella village in Kanigiri mandal of Markapuram district on Saturday, along with his accomplice Kumbha Sambayya.
Superintendent of Police V. Harshavardhan Raju appreciated the team for cracking the case.
