Two injured in firing over land dispute in Farrukhabad

Times News NetworkKanpur: A long-running land dispute in the Mohammadabad police station area of Farrukhabad turned violent on Monday, with sticks, batons, iron rods and several rounds of firing between the sides of two gram village heads (pradhans), leaving two people injured by gunshots.The injured included Nisai gram pradhan Geeta Chauhan’s husband Satyendra Singh and their son. Both were taken to hospital, where they were undergoing treatment.According to information, on Sunday evening, Madgaon gram pradhan Ram Narayan was getting ploughing done on gata number 818 when Nisai pradhan pati Satyendra Singh reached the spot and tried to stop the work, stating that the land was government land and belonged to Nisai gram panchayat.

A fight broke out between the two sides.After this, a complaint was filed at Mohammadabad police station from the side of gram pradhan Geeta Chauhan, demanding action. Kotwali inspector in-charge Madan Mohan Chaturvedi took action against three people each from both sides in the matter. However, the dispute and tension between the two sides over the land continued.At 11 in the morning on Monday, when Madgaon pradhan reached the disputed land to get construction work done, the Nisai pradhan side also reached the spot.

The dispute turned violent and several rounds of firing took place from both sides along with sticks, batons and iron rods, creating panic in the area.Besides Mohammadabad police station, police force from nearby police stations and the additional superintendent of police reached the spot after receiving information. The forensic team collected evidence from the scene and started an investigation. Police force from Mohammadabad, Nawabganj and Shamshabad police stations were also deployed at the scene.Kotwali inspector in-charge Madan Mohan Chaturvedi said, “Police reached after receiving information about the firing. The matter is being investigated and a police force has been deployed. However, on the basis of the complaint, on the night of July 5, action was taken against Nisai pradhan pati Satyendra Pradhan, his sons Aman and Abhay, and from the other side against Madgaon pradhan Ram Narayan and his sons Hitesh and Manish.
