Two killed, two seriously injured in truck–car collision near Nippani

Belagavi: Two people were killed and two others sustained serious injuries in a road accident involving a truck and a car near Stavanidhi Ghat on NH-48, at the outskirts of Nippani town on Tuesday wee hours.The deceased have been identified as Sohail Muner, a resident of Kolhapur, and Vinay Patil of Inchalkaranji, Maharashtra. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.According to preliminary investigations, the accident took place after a truck allegedly suffered brake failure and crashed into the car ahead of it. The impact was so severe that the car was completely crushed, leaving two occupants dead on the spot.Police and emergency personnel rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to a hospital. A case has been registered at Nippani police station, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the accident.
