Two more mobile phones seized from Bengaluru central prison

Two mobile phones were seized during a surprise inspection at the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison on Sunday.

According to a complaint, Assistant Jailer S.J. Jakati and other staff members conducted a search between 1.57 p.m. and 2.08 p.m. in Tower-01, Barrack No. 01.

During the search, officials recovered two mobile phones concealed outside the washroom of tower 1 barracks. The possession and use of mobile phones inside prison premises are strictly banned under prison regulations.

A case has been registered under Section 42 of the Karnataka Prisons (Amendment) Act, 2022, along with other relevant provisions.

Further investigation is under way to identify the inmates involved and those who aided in bringing the banned items into the prison, according to police.
