Two Years After Sister's Death In Dal Pot, UP Infant Dies After Falling Into ‘Chhole’ Pot

In a tragic and shocking incident, an 18-month-old girl child succumbed to her burn injuries after which she had suffered after falling into a pot of chickpeas on a burning stove in Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra district.

The incident took place in Duddhi area of the district when the child, a daughter of a chaat seller, Shailendra, was playing near the large vessel last week on Saturday, Times of India reported.

As per the report citing the police, the chaat seller informed the officials that his wife was boiling chickpeas for ‘paanipuri’ and their daughter, Priya was playing nearby.

The child’s mother had gone to another room when Priya, while playing, fell into the large vessel. Hearing her screams, the mother rushed to rescue her and took her to a local hospital.

The doctors referred to the district hospital where she succumbed to her burn injuries, the report added.

Duddhi circle officer Rajesh Kumar Rai told the news outlet on Sunday that the family cremated the girl without informing the police. When cops reached the house, it was revealed that it was an accidental death.

As per the report, the couple’s elder daughter and Priya’s elder sister, had also died in a similar manner two years ago. The elder child had fallen into a hot pot of ‘lentils’ and died of her burn injuries.
