Chennai City Police (clarification sought from reporter) arrested two men for breaching Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi’s convoy on Sunday (February 8, 2026) night while attempting to dodge a police checkpoint.

The incident occurred when Mr. Ravi was returning to Lok Bhavan after attending a wedding reception in Thiruvanmiyur. The accused, Anburaj (22) and Jeeva (22), riding a motorcycle, entered the convoy near the Adyar Cancer Institute, bypassing security vehicles.

Police personnel pursued the bike and detained them. Investigations revealed that the two men, natives of Kallakurichi and Villupuram districts and employees of a private firm in Perungalathur, had visited the city, consumed alcohol, and were heading back to Perungalathur when they encountered a police check point and tried to evade it by slipping into the convoy.

They were arrested, produced before a magistrate, and remanded to judicial custody.
