Ujjain man arrested for raping Mumbai woman

Times News NetworkUjjain: A 28-year-old Ujjain man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 20-year-old Mumbai woman after befriending her on Instagram and promising marriage, Badnagar police said.The complainant, a resident of Dadar, told the police that she had connected with the accused, Vikas Sharma of Kazipur, on Instagram about two weeks ago. After the two struck up a conversation, Vikas expressed his intention to marry her. The woman travelled to Badnagar to meet him, where he allegedly raped her under the pretext of marriage.She filed a complaint at Badnagar police station at around 2 am on Wednesday. A case was registered and Vikas was arrested. He was produced before a First Class Judicial Magistrate and sent to judicial custody.Station House Officer Ashok Patidar said that the accused has no prior criminal record and had been visiting Badnagar for work with a band.
