Mangaluru: Speaker UT Khader Thursday sought stringent action over the oil leak incident in Ullal and directed that the fish meal factory owners linked to the container bear the entire medical expenses of those injured.Calling the incident extremely unfortunate, Khader asked the City police commissioner to take strict action against the container operator as well as the owners of the fish meal factory connected to the leak, which led to several vehicles skidding on the oil‑covered road. While stating that there was complete support for industrial development in Ullal, Khader said any activity causing inconvenience or posing a danger to public life would not be tolerated.

He also wished the injured a speedy recovery.According to police, a container transporting fish oil from a fish meal industry to Mangalore Port developed a leakage during transit. The driver noticed the spill near Abbakka Circle and later parked the vehicle near Mastikatte.Several vehicles, particularly two‑wheelers travelling behind the container, skidded on the affected stretch. Police personnel rushed to the spot, blocked one side of the road and spread mud and dust to prevent further accidents. The road was later cleared and traffic restored. A case has been registered at the Mangaluru Traffic South police station.
