United States President Donald Trump on Wednesday said it would be “unacceptable" for him to support any Iran deal that included fees on shipping or maritime activities through the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking to reporters during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Trump also said the United States was performing well in its conflict with Iran.
“Yeah it would be unacceptable to me because we have numerous straits that if you did that for them you’d have to do it for other people. You have other straits, well I wouldn’t allow it there either. Yeah it would be a game changer," the US president said, when asked if he would finalise an Iran deal which includes any kind of fees on shipping.
‘Iran War Going Very Well’
The US president further alleged that Democrats wanted to lose the war against Iran.
“So we’re doing great in our negotiations with Iran. Right in the middle of one of the key things which we’re going to get anyway, we got… We had four Republican Senators and all Democrats. You know Democrats want to lose the war because they’re stupid. That’s why we call them DUMocrats, you know, I no longer use the E. I’ve changed the E into a U. We call them DUMocrats, they’re dumb. Their policy is so bad," he said.

“The war is going very well. As you know, we’re winning by a lot. Iran is making very big concessions. We’ll see what happens. But it’s been very, very, very powerful. It’s going very, very well," Trump added.
‘Iran Agreeing To Everything I Want’
Earlier in the day, the White House press secretary highlighted that oil prices had fallen to nearly $70 a barrel, their lowest level since before the Iran conflict.
Responding to the development, Trump said, “I see that oil just broke the $70 number. Who would have thought that was going to happen? And that’s during a war. And Iran is being very nice. They’re agreeing to everything that I want, and they have to. Otherwise, we just go back and do what we have to do."
Trump Says ‘Let Down’ By NATO Allies Over Iran War Support
During his meeting with NATO Chief Mark Rutte, Trump said that he felt “let down" by members of the transatlantic alliance who did not support US actions against Iran.
“We were let down. We didn’t need help on this at all. We demolished (Iran) literally in the first week, but it would have been nice if they had said, ‘We’d like to help,’" Trump said during a meeting with Rutte in the Oval Office of the White House.

According to the proposal, the money would be used to support the removal or secure disposal of Iran’s enriched uranium and other sensitive nuclear materials. It would also fund expanded inspection and verification operations conducted by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The funding request is included within a larger $80 billion supplemental package linked to the recent escalation in tensions and conflict involving Iran.
