Investigations into a recent case where an undertrial prisoner tried to assault six other inmates of Parappana Agrahara Central Prison with a sharp object, have revealed it was a hit job provided to the accused by another inmate, raising security concerns.

A jail staffer, Hanumanthappa Hadapada, who was escorting the six inmates who were the target of the assault, was in turn injured when he tried to intervene and prevent the attack.

In his complaint, Mr. Hanumanthappa said the incident occurred on February 16, 2026, at around 6.51 p.m., when he was escorting six inmates from Tower-01, 1st block, Room No. 06 for routine movement within the jail premises. He said he noticed the accused Waseem Pasha near the prison hospital gate area.

Suddenly, the undertrial allegedly attempted to assault the six inmates — Syed Mubarak, Nawaz Sharif, Syed Ismail, Salman Khan, Mohammed Ali and Umez Mubarak — with a nail. Mr. Hadapada said when he tried to restrain the accused, he assaulted him instead, resulting in a bleeding injury to his left hand. Soon other jail staffers rushed to the spot and pinned down Waseem Pasha.

During his interrogation later, he reportedly claimed that he was given a hit job to attack the gang of six inmates from another inmate named Rizorio and was promised money in return.

Parappana Agrahara Police have now registered a case and are probing Rizorio and Waseem Pasha and why the former wanted to target the six inmates.

Prison authorities said that timely intervention prevented a major incident.
