Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandrashekhar inaugurated a photo exhibition on 150 years of the national song Vandematram, at Kondaveedu Festival, on Saturday (February 07).
State Endowment Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy, Member of Parliament from Narasaraopet Lavu Srikrishna Devarayalu and MLA Chilakaluripet Prathipati Pulla Rao, Palnadu District Collector Kritika Shukla and senior District officials were also present at the inauguration ceremony.
The Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has organised Vandematram Photo exhibition as part of the State organised two-day Kondaveedu Festival, to relive the glorious past of the Kondaveedu empire.
Addressing the students, Mr. Lavu Srikrishna Devarayalu appealed to students and teachers to learn more about Vandematram Song. “When the country needed a unifying thread to intensify the freedom fight against the British Rule, Bankim Chandra Chatterjee gave a beautiful and promising song in the form of Vandematram.”
Mr. Srikrishna Devarayalu said each word of Vandematram song was ever inspiring and a guiding principle even today to achieve a Vikasit Bharat.
CBC Assistant Director R. Ramesh Chandra informed that Vandematram exhibition has unique and rare pictures related to the life of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and historical facts of Vandematram National song on display.
He said, over 1000 students from various schools have visited the exhibition on the first day. Mr. Ramesh Chandra said that CBC has conducted on the spot Vandematram quiz to the students and gave away prizes.
