The Uttar Pradesh government is in the final stages of launching the Mukhyamantri Shikshak Cashless Chikitsa Yojana, under which teachers, education department employees and their dependent family members will be eligible for cashless medical treatment of up to Rs 5 lakh annually.

Officials said the beta version of the scheme’s online portal is currently undergoing testing, while preparations for beneficiary registration and card issuance are underway.

According to the State Health Agency (SACHIS), data of more than 3.5 lakh eligible teachers and employees has already been compiled through a dedicated portal developed for the scheme.

SACHIS Chief Executive Officer Archana Verma said the government is currently focused on sanitising beneficiary data to avoid delays in card generation and enrolment.

She said discrepancies in names, dates of birth, Aadhaar details and family information had affected card issuance in previous exercises, leading to pending applications. To address the issue, employee and dependent details are being collected in a standardised format.

Officials said the data verification process is expected to help speed up card issuance and ensure a larger number of beneficiaries can access the scheme once it is launched.

Under the programme, beneficiaries will receive treatment at empanelled government and private hospitals using a Mukhyamantri Shikshak Cashless Chikitsa Card. Medical expenses up to the prescribed limit will be covered under the scheme, reducing the financial burden on families during serious illnesses and medical emergencies.

Verma said several technical aspects, including card generation, beneficiary verification and hospital integration, are currently being tested through the portal.

“After successful testing, the scheme will be formally launched," she said.

Officials said dependent family members of eligible teachers and employees will also be covered under the scheme after enrolment and card issuance.

The Uttar Pradesh government expects the programme to benefit lakhs of teachers, education department employees and their families by improving access to healthcare services while reducing out-of-pocket medical expenses.
