UP man kills wife, 3 children, then dies by suicide

Five members of a family were found dead inside their rented accommodation in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj, with police suspecting that a soldier, identified as Satyadev, allegedly killed his wife and three children before dying by suicide.

According to police, the incident came to light on Saturday after neighbours reported a foul smell coming from the family’s residence.

The house, located near a petrol pump on Eta Road, also functioned as a welding shop where Satyadev worked.

Officers from Amanpur police station reached the spot and broke open the locked door, recovering the bodies from inside the room.

The station in-charge of Amanpur said, "Prima facie, the man killed his three children and wife and died by suicide".

Initial findings suggest the deaths may have occurred around two days before they were discovered.

Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma reached the scene along with other senior officials, including the Additional Superintendent of Police and the Circle Officer, to supervise the investigation. A forensic team was called in to examine the site and collect evidence.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause and time of death.

Police said they are probing all possible angles to determine the motive behind the extreme step.

The area has been secured as investigators continue gathering evidence and await autopsy findings to establish further details in the case.
