US Senate Narrowly Passes Donald Trump’s 'Big, Beautiful Bill'

US Senate Republicans narrowly approved President Donald Trump’s giant tax and spending cuts package today after a days-long grind to secure the support of key holdouts, leaving one major step to send it to his desk.

The vote was 50-50 and Vice President JD Vance was the tie-breaking vote.

The sprawling text, headlined by a $4.5 trillion renewal of the president’s first term tax cuts, now heads to the House of Representatives.

It faces unified Democratic opposition in the lower chamber, and multiple Republicans balking at deep cuts to health care, green energy subsidies and food aid programs for the poor.
