Anbumani Ramadoss at Thiruvanaikoil in Trichy
Trichy: PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss on Friday urged youngsters in the state to use social media platforms to create awareness and put pressure on Union and Karnataka govts to stop the new dam project across the Cauvery river in Mekedatu.Addressing a gathering at Thiruvanaikoil in Trichy, the Rajya Sabha member said 28 out of 38 districts in
Tamil Nadu
rely on the Cauvery water for livelihood. “TN youths who have brought a change of guard in the state using social media should fight for the state’s rights on the Cauvery river,” he said. “During the pro-jallikattu protest in the state, lakhs of youngsters gathered without knowing much about the traditional sport.
The Mekedatu dam issue is much more serious, concerning every life and future of the state. Use social media to create awareness about the Mekedatu issue and save Tamil Nadu.
”Anbumani was taking part in his public awareness march between Dharmapuri and Mayiladuthurai districts to stop Karnataka from constructing the dam in Mekedatu. He distributed pamphlets to people in Karur and Trichy districts on Friday.Claiming that the new dam is not only anti-TN, he said it is detrimental to the environment, biodiversity, and wildlife.
