The Kerala High Court has dismissed a petition filed by the father of a youth accused in the Venjaramoodu murder case, seeking a stay on the release of Kaalam Paranja Katha, a movie based on the case in which a youth named Afan had been charged with murdering five of his family members.
He had also been charged with attempting to murder his mother.
His father Abdul Raheem had contended that his son’s right to a fair trial will be affected if the movie was released while the trial is still under way. The injury this could cause cannot be undone even if his son is ultimately acquitted, he claimed.
A detailed order is awaited.
