The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Telangana unit has questioned the silence of Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh over the attack on the Executive Officer of the Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy Temple of Bhadrachalam, L Rama Devi, when she tried to stop constructions on the encroached temple land.

In a statement here, Ravinuthala Shashidhar, national spokesperson, said it was unfortunate that the Chief Ministers have remained silent and it reflected their negligence of temple lands. He said encroachment of temple lands were encouraged by the silence of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajashekhar Reddy in the combined Andhra Pradesh and later by his son Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy

He alleged the situation has gone to the extent of Churches and Masjids coming up in the temple lands but the governments of Telangana and A.P. have refused to take action. He warned that the VHP would be forced to announce direct action if the governments fail to take action.
