The Telangana unit of the Viswa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has urged the Director General of Police (DGP) to personally oversee the investigation into the recent communal clash in Banswada. In a statement issued on Sunday, VHP national spokesperson Ravinuthala Shashidhar also appealed to the Telangana High Court to take up the matter suo motu.
Shashidhar alleged that the incident reflected rising tensions in the region and questioned the filing of serious cases, including attempted murder, against individuals who, according to him, had approached the police seeking justice. He called for an inquiry into the functioning of alleged illegal madarasas in Banswada, along with claims regarding the presence of foreign nationals in the area.
He further demanded a comprehensive investigation into what he described as the growing radicalisation in the region.
Shashidhar warned that if the cases registered against Hindus involved in the incident were not withdrawn, the VHP would launch a State-wide agitation.
