Vodafone Idea (Vi) has reported net subscriber additions for the second consecutive month, according to the latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). With 21,927 net subscribers added in February, the company seems to be witnessing stabilisation of its subscriber base after adding 1,02,899 subscribers in March 2026.
These positive developments come amid overall growth in the telecommunications industry in India, where total telephone subscriptions stood at 1,330.58 million in March, with a monthly growth rate of 0.70%.As per the report, Vodafone Idea's subscriber base increased by 1,92,211 net subscribers in the month under review, driven by the rural segment. Wireless subscription in India grew to 1,282.33 million, while wireless users totalled 1,185.60 million.
In the meantime, 14.63 million users submitted MNP requests.
Subscriber additions across circles and network push
Vi recorded subscriber additions across 15 telecom circles in March, including Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh (East). Key additions included 1,01,748 users in Gujarat, 1,00,701 in Karnataka, and 57,452 in Bihar. Other circles, such as Kerala, Punjab, Odisha, and Mumbai, also contributed to overall growth.The company attributed this trend to its ongoing network investments and product strategy.
Its 5G rollout and offerings like Nonstop Hero (unlimited 4G data) and Super Hero (half-day unlimited 4G) are catching on with users. Vi has announced plans to expand 5G services to 90 more cities, bringing its overall footprint to 133 by May 2026.The telecom operator reported subscriber additions in 15 circles in February, reflecting a steady trend over the last two months. At the same time, industry-wide data shows that the number of broadband subscribers increased to 1,065.88 million in March, with growth stable in both urban and rural areas.The latest TRAI report suggests that while competition remains high, Vi’s recent additions point to early signs of recovery in its subscriber base.
