Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who was being considered as a front-runner for Kerala CM, on Friday informed that he will skip the oath-taking ceremony.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay is being invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Kerala CM-designate V D Satheesan in Thiruvananthapuram.

Satheesan said that other chief ministers, including Vijay, are being invited by the Congress leadership.

Congress Leaders Who May Attend Satheesan’s Oath-Taking Event

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are likely to attend the oath-taking ceremony on May 18 at Central Stadium near the state secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram.

Three Congress Chief Ministers– Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy and Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu– are also likely to attend.

Siddaramaiah’s office confirmed that Satheesan has invited Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to attend the swearing-in ceremony.

Satheesan on Thursday emerged victorious in a three-way contest for the coveted CM’s post in Kerala, ending days of suspense over the top post after the party-led UDF swept the April 9 Assembly elections.

The Congress-led UDF secured a more-than-two-thirds majority in the Kerala Assembly elections, but the party was unable to decide on its chief ministerial candidate amid lobbying by different camps and protests by workers at the grassroots level.
