Tamil Nadu Election 2026: Like in his films, where he often stays two steps ahead of the villain, Vijay appears to be bringing the same instinct into politics. Though new to the political arena, the “Thalapathy" seems keen to stay ahead of the game.
With speculation mounting over a possible hung verdict in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is already preparing for a post-result scenario. According to a report by The New Indian Express, the party has made arrangements to move its winning MLAs to a resort near Chennai.
Sources told the publication that Vijay has instructed party functionaries to book a resort in Poonjeri, near Mamallapuram, to house the victorious candidates, a move seen as a precaution to prevent poaching in the event of a fractured mandate.
Vijay had earlier asked the TVK candidates “not to go anywhere after winning the seat".

Vijay himself is contesting the polls from the Perambur seat in Chennai and Trichy East.
Meanwhile, KA Sengottaiyan, Chief Coordinator of TVK Executive Committee, has claimed that the party will win at least 180 of 234 seats in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
“Leader Vijay will rule Tamil Nadu with a visionary mind. The 2026 election victory will be historical. The leader of the TVK has overcome various trials," he added.
Polling for all 234 seats across Tamil Nadu took place on April 23, where the Vijay-led TVK challenged both the ruling DMK and the Opposition NDA camp, including AIADMK and the BJP.

Tamil Nadu Exit Polls Projections
Exit poll projection by Axis My India has predicted that TVK may emerge as the single largest party, winning 98-120 seats in the 234-member Tamil Nadu assembly, while the DMK-led alliance will get 92-100 seats, and the five-party alliance led by the AIADMK will be decimated to just 22-32 seats.
However, the majority of exit polls have predicted that the Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA), led by the DMK, is returning to power in the state, while the TVK is set to not even cross the 10-seat mark for its poll debut.
