The Indira Gandhi Zoological Park is set to organise a five-day Zoo Summer Camp for children aged between four and 12 years from May 19 to 23 at the Zoo Bioscope on the zoo premises.

The camp, to be held between 3pm and 5pm daily, aims to introduce children to wildlife conservation and biodiversity through interactive learning sessions, games and hands-on activities. The programme is being organised in collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department, Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation and WCTRE.

According to the schedule released by the zoo authorities, the camp will feature activities such as animal charades, birdwatching, butterfly sessions, backyard gardening, animal mask making and a ‘Little Zoo Vet’ session. Experts from the zoo, conservation biologists, veterinarians and environmental specialists will interact with participants during the camp.

Sessions on heat-wave precautions for wildlife and humans, animal habitats and zoo animal diets have also been included to help children understand environmental challenges and animal care practices.
The registration fee for the camp is ₹1,000. Participants will receive animal-themed T-shirts, caps, study material, zoo passport cards and participation certificates. Limited seats are available for the programme.
