The grand finale of Vision Mysuru 2050, a student-driven civil-centric initiatives of SDM Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) in Mysuru, will be held on Monday at 4 p.m. on the SDMIMD campus.

The finale will feature Top 5 idea presentations of shortlisted plans and proposals before a grand jury. The jury members include Nitesh Patil, Regional Commissioner; Vaishali Hanamanth, Managing Partner at DRC Cinemas; Fr. Leslie Moras, Former Principal of St. Philomena College, Mysuru; Harish Krishnaswamy, Trustee, SKDRDP and Ravishankar, CEO of Aim High Consulting.

Vision Mysuru 2050 initiative received an overwhelming response of 317 submissions aimed at the holistic development of Mysuru. Following a multi-stage evaluation process, the jury shortlisted the top 5 proposals. These submissions span a wide range of themes critical to the city’s future, including Urban Infrastructure and Mobility, Environmental Sustainability, Economic Development, Digital Governance and Smart Cities, Education and Healthcare, Heritage Conservation, Social Equity and Inclusion, Disaster Resilience, and Tourism and Culture, said SDMIMD Assistant Professor Sridhar at a press conference here on Wednesday.

The initial evaluation process has been conducted by a distinguished panel of domain experts and seasoned professionals from Mysuru. Many members of the panel possess a deep understanding of the city’s history, heritage, and evolving developmental needs. Representing diverse fields such as defence, heritage, culture, history, management, technology, academia, and the corporate sector, the panel ensured that each proposal is assessed not only for originality and feasibility, but also for its alignment with Mysuru’s unique character and long-term vision, a press release said.

At the grand finale, the shortlisted teams will present their proposals before district authorities and experts, who will identify the top three winning ideas. The winning teams will be given the opportunity to present their proposals to senior government officials, industry leaders, and academic heads. The top team will also receive an attractive cash prize from the organising committee.

Earlier, the Vision Mysuru 2050 team presented the top 10 shortlisted proposals before the Regional Commissioner at Mysore City Corporation receiving appreciation from council members for the initiative and the quality of ideas.

The event is being conducted in collaboration with Mysuru Grahakara Parishad (MGP), the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Mysuru, The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Mysuru chapter, CII Young India Chapter and many educational institutions and organisations.

The primary objective of the initiative is to transform local civic observations into structured, evidence-based proposals. A key outcome will be the publication of a comprehensive “White Paper,” which will be formally submitted to district administration to support implementation and guide future urban policy, the release added.
