Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) resumed the ‘Happy Sunday’ programme in the city on Sunday. The programme was held at Berm Park, Raghavaiah Park, Riverfront Park, and Bhavanipuram.
Participating as the chief guest in the programme held at Riverfront Park, East MLA Gadde Ramamohan expressed happiness that it was being re-organised, and urged people to make good use of it and provide feedback.
At Nirmal Hriday Bhavan, VMC Additional Commissioner D. Chandrasekhar took part in the programme and assured the elderly full support from the corporation.
Mr. Chandrasekhar said the programme, which will be held on second and fourth Sundays, was introduced by the State government to benefit people of all ages. Cultural programmes were organised to entertain the elders, while fruits were also distributed to them. Mr. Chandrasekhar wished them good health.
The VMC official also invited the public, voluntary organisations, and resident welfare societies to come forward to organise Happy Sunday events, and assured them that the VMC would grant permission to organise these in parks and at major junctions in the city.
