The induction programme of first year B.E. students of the Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE) for the batch of 2025-26 was held on Sunday.
The programme marked the commencement of the course and the beginning of a new academic year. N. Muthukumar, senior advisor, Bharat Forge Ltd., Pune, who addressed the students, urged them to embrace innovation.
He laid emphasis on continuous learning and professional values, and said that adaptability and ethical responsibility are as vital as technical expertise in the current and dynamic global environment.
“Technology has transformed every sector. Students must prepare themselves for the era of artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and digital transformation,” he added.
Outlining the vast opportunities in various fields such as defence, aerospace, chip manufacturing, automobile, hydrogen energy, space, and mobile technology, Mr. Muthukumar urged students to move beyond salary-driven choices and focus on creating high-quality products that elevate India on the world stage.
“India could rise to be among the top-four global economies and a superpower by 2047 if young professionals contribute meaningfully to innovation and production,” he added.
P. Vishwanath, secretary of Vidyavardhaka Sangha (VVS), highlighted VVCE’s legacy of pursuing academic excellence and said that apart from technical skills, students should also develop values, leadership qualities, and a global outlook.
B. Sadashive Gowda, principal, VVCE, spoke on the importance of discipline, academic integrity, and active participation, and described these as key drivers of success.
Some of the college alumni also shared insights and their experiences with the new batch of students. The college authorities said the induction programme serves as a day of inspiration, motivation, and community building exercise.
