Waste room gutted at Ilkal tahsildar’s office, foul play suspected

Bagalkot: Miscreants allegedly set fire to the waste room of the tahsildar’s office in Ilkal, Bagalkot district, on Thursday night. Ilkal Town police said scrap papers and raw materials were destroyed in the blaze.

“Miscreants appear to have damaged CCTV cameras to destroy evidence. Empty liquor bottles were also found at the spot. It is suspected that persons in an inebriated state may have carried out the act,” police said. Tahsildar Amaresh Pammar visited the spot the same night and said CCTV footage is being examined in coordination with the police. Police have launched a search operation to nab the culprits.
