A paraglider suffered injuries after an emergency landing on the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway near Manali on Sunday
MANALI: A solo paraglider was injured after crash-landing on the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway at Babeli near Manali on Sunday afternoon after strong winds blew him off course.The pilot took off from the Lori paragliding site above Raison village and was scheduled to land at the designated landing site in Raison. However, gusty afternoon winds swept the glider away, forcing him to attempt an emergency landing nearly three kilometres from the designated landing zone. While landing, he lost control of the glider and fell on his back, sustaining injuries.He was rushed to the Regional Hospital, Kullu, where his condition is stated to be stable.The incident comes just over a month after a similar occurrence on May 30, when a tandem paraglider was blown off course by strong winds and made a safe emergency landing on the Chandigarh-Manali Highway near Katrain. No injuries were reported in that incident.
