Shakira is set to return to the FIFA World Cup stage once again after unveiling a teaser for the official song of the 2026 tournament, titled Dai Dai.

The Colombian global superstar shared a short promotional video on social media on Thursday, confirming that the track, created in collaboration with Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy, will be released on May 14.

In the clip, filmed at the iconic Maracana Stadium in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro, Shakira performs alongside a group of dancers dressed in the colours of various national teams set to participate in the tournament. She is seen holding the official 2026 World Cup match ball while singing: “Here in this place / You belong," before adding, “What broke you once / Made you strong."

Fans on social media were happy to see the pop icon back with another FIFA World Cup song. Most users, though, reminisced about the 2010 song ‘Waka Waka’ — calling it the best in the history of the tournament.

The video also features the official match balls from the 2006, 2010 and 2014 World Cups, apparently referencing the tournaments in which Shakira played a prominent musical role.

Shakira And World Cup Songs

Shakira’s connection with the World Cup stretches back nearly two decades. She famously performed Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), the official anthem for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, which became one of the most recognisable football songs ever released. She also performed ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ during the 2006 World Cup celebrations in Germany and ‘La La La’ (Brazil 2014) during the 2014 tournament in Brazil.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to begin on June 11, with Mexico facing South Africa at the historic Estadio Azteca. The tournament final will be played on July 19 at MetLife Stadium.
