The Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) has been committed to ensuring strict adherence to standard operating procedures for the welfare of employees in the oil and natural gas industry, DGMS Deputy Director T.R. Kannan said on Wednesday.
Mr. Kannan reviewed an exhibition on technologies adopted by the participating organisations to prevent hazardous situations and studies of recent accidents and incidents in the Krishna-Godavari basin in Andhra Pradesh during a workshop on workers’ safety.
Hosted by the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation here on Wednesday, the representatives from the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) and Antelopus Selan Energy Limited (ASEL) participated in the workshop.
In his address, ONGC Rajahmundry Asset Executive Director & Asset Manager Hemant Ramlu Mulka has said that the workshop aimed to share knowledge on technological advancements and innovative approaches to mitigate hazards in oil mining operations.
“Safety remains the cornerstone of ONGC’s operations and no operational achievement holds value unless it is accomplished safely,” Mr. Mulka said.
Representatives from ONGC, HPCL and GAIL shared their respective initiatives and interventions to strengthen safety culture within their operations.
