Martina Navratilova condemns Charlie Kirk’s killing in Utah
Charlie Kirk’s shooting happened on Tuesday, September 10, 2025, during a Turning Point USA program at Utah Valley University in Orem.
Federal teams from the FBI and ATF rushed to the scene and began a nationwide manhunt for the suspect. Utah Governor Spencer Cox and former President Donald Trump among others expressed condolences to Kirk's family and denounced the killing. 68-year-old Czech-American Martina Navratilova, a former World No. 1 in tennis, shared her feelings online.
She wrote, “Political violence is never ok. This is an abhorrent act from an abhorrent individual. It is a sad day in many ways as this kind of stuff is way too common.”While Martina Navratilova mostly disagreed with Charlie Kirk on politics, she mourned his passing and remarked violence should never be used to resolve disputes.
Her post was seen as a powerful protest against the increasing tide of hatred and violence in the United States and was widely disseminated.
Alex Jones, Steve Bannon, and Jesse Watters call the killing “war”
As news of the murder spread, far-right voices responded with sharp words. Alex Jones said, “We’re in a war.” Steve Bannon added, “Charlie Kirk is a casualty of war.” Jesse Watters asked, “They are at war with us.
